**** essential duties and responsibilities:
*** responsible for working in a safe and orderly manner while in the plant on the plant property.
* visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
* listens for unusual sounds and views machines and equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
* dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
* cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
* repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
* lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related steam and refrigeration, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
* operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
* sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drills, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools.
* must have worked as maintenance i for a specific period of time as outlined in the maintenance ii requirements outline before having the ability to test.

** education  and  / or experience:
*** one year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* this position requires advance knowledge of the factory equipment.  This individual must have a minimum of one year experience in a maintenance position, must have their own set of hand tools (on good quality, list avail upon request), and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.  Must also demonstrate the ability to maintain the level of performance.

*** ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
** mathematical skills:
*** ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.
