CNC Lathe Machinist

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to set up, operate, and optimize CNC turning centers to produce precision components to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will be proficient with lathe operations and precision measuring instruments, able to read technical drawings, troubleshoot machine issues, and maintain strict quality and safety standards. This role supports production goals, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaboration with engineering and quality teams.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist operating lathes with demonstrated competency in lathe setups and operations.
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude, with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints is a plus!
  • Working knowledge of G & M codes (Mitsubishi controls/programming) is a plus!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC lathes to produce parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Load tools, fixtures, and work holding; perform machine offsets and verify tool geometry.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify conformance to dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining sequences and inspection requirements.
  • Perform first-article inspections and in-process checks; document results and adjust programs or tooling as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, make process adjustments, and recommend improvements to reduce scrap and cycle time.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and report or repair mechanical and electrical faults in collaboration with maintenance or millwright personnel.
  • Follow safe work practices, adhere to company safety policies, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality personnel to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete production paperwork, electronic logs, and maintain accurate records of setups, tooling, and measurement data.
