Role Description

The Engineering Technician / CNC Programmer role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Minneapolis, MN. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce precision medical components, ensuring that all parts meet strict quality and regulatory requirements. Day‑to‑day tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, developing and optimizing CNC programs, performing machine setup and adjustments, and monitoring production runs to resolve tooling or process issues.

The Engineering Technician / CNC Programmer will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing problems, improve processes, and support new product introductions. Additional responsibilities include using test equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances, documenting work according to internal procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process data, and to optimize CNC programs for quality and efficiency.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams, and to document procedures, issues, and improvements clearly.
  • Troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of machining, programming, or equipment issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Hands‑on proficiency with test equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify part dimensions, tolerances, and process capability; soldering experience is beneficial for relevant assembly work.
  • Experience with CNC programming and setup in a precision manufacturing environment, ideally in medical devices or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and G-code programming, and understanding of multi‑axis machining principles.
  • Knowledge of quality and safety standards in manufacturing; experience with ISO or FDA‑regulated environments is a plus.
  • Relevant technical education such as a diploma or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
