You will program using Gibbscam, perform complex setups, and take parts from print to finished product for diverse customers in industries such as medical device, aerospace, defense, and high technology. The work is primarily short-run, tight-tolerance machining in a clean, quality-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Program 3- and 5-axis CNC mills using Gibbscam software for prototype and short-run production work.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling selection, tool changes, and part fixturing for multiple jobs per day.
  • Execute touch-offs, G- and M-code edits, and on-machine adjustments to optimize machining processes and ensure part quality.
  • Interpret engineering prints and customer specifications to produce accurate parts from print to finished product.
  • Machine a variety of materials, including plastics, aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium, while maintaining tight tolerances.
  • Run primarily short-run jobs, typically 1–2 pieces and up to approximately 50-piece production runs.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using digital inspection equipment such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Work effectively in a short-run job shop environment, managing multiple setups and changing priorities throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve machining challenges, improve processes, and meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Follow ISO 9001 quality standards and shop procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality output for medical device and aerospace components.
Essential Skills
  • Experience programming and running CNC mills in a prototype or short-run job shop environment.
  • Proficiency with Gibbscam or similar CAM software for programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Strong ability to perform CNC mill setups, including tooling, fixturing, tool changes, and machine offsets.
  • Comfort with frequent changeovers and multiple setups per day in a short-run production environment.
  • Hands-on experience machining a range of materials, especially aluminum and stainless steel, and including plastics and titanium.
  • Proficient use of digital inspection tools such as micrometers and calipers for in-process inspection and verification of tight tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints to produce accurate, print-to-part components.
  • Either a two-year technical degree with some experience on mills, or at least 3+ years of direct experience running CNC mills without formal education.
  • Experience running short-run machines and working with low-volume, high-mix production.
  • Experience working in a short-run job shop environment with tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
