Material Handler - Production 2nd shift

Louis Industries is one of the most modern steel processing facilities in central Minnesota. We employ around 100 people and serve over 200 customers predominantly located in the upper Midwest. General Laborers support production operations by separating, handling, and staging parts throughout the manufacturing process. This role ensures parts are properly processed, packaged, and moved to downstream operations while maintaining quality, safety, and accurate job tracking. Material Handlers play a critical role in maintaining efficient workflow by supporting part separation, palletizing, kitting, and material movement across departments.

• Separate (“pick”) laser-cut parts and stage materials according to job requirements.
• Package, palletize, move, and organize materials to support production flow and downstream operations.
• Handle raw materials, finished parts, and scrap safely and efficiently.
• Ensure proper part identification, staging, labeling, traceability, and ERP job tracking.
• Support additional production processes such as flattening, finishing, shearing, tumbling, or pallet building as needed.

• Safely operate forklifts, material handling equipment, hand tools, and packaging equipment.
• Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance or safety concerns.

• Perform work according to job specifications, work instructions, quality standards, and safety policies.
• Identify and report defects, damage, safety concerns, or process improvement opportunities.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and participate in continuous improvement efforts.

• Participate in cross-training across multiple processes, equipment, and departments.
• Support adjacent operations and adapt to changing production priorities and staffing needs to help maintain workflow and overall plant performance.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing, production or material handling experience preferred.
• E xperience operating forklifts, cranes, or production equipment preferred (as applicable to role).
• Familiarity with ERP systems or production tracking systems a plus.
