Lead Press Operator

Role Summary

The Lead Press Operator position is responsible for providing leadership and support to an assigned team of press operators with the common goal of making quality product with pride. The Lead Press Operator will tend plastic injection molding machines, and provide assistance and training when necessary, while also working cross-functionally with the shift supervisor, set-up technicians, process technicians, and the quality group to increase production, reduce defects, and pursue continuous improvement initiatives.

This position will also ensure that each operator understands safety standards, quality standards, and work procedures. The Lead Press Operator reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

Schedule

Days: 6:40 am to 3:10 pm, Monday - Friday

Areas of Accountability
  • Tend to plastic injection molding machine(s).
  • Assist and train press operators on-the-job.
  • Give breaks to operators.
  • Scanning duties.
  • Line clear procedure to prepare the press for a new mold to be installed.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area with an emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Qualifications
  • 6 months experience in press operator and/or trainer role.
  • In-depth knowledge of policies, procedures, presses, workstations, materials, and tools used on the job.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in quality and workmanship.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Interest in the production team and what can be done as a group to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • A strong desire to lead team of operators and help them succeed in productivity and quality requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IQMS software experience.
