Communications Specialist; early career

Rapp Strategies, Inc., a strategic communications firm specializing in issue and reputation management, is seeking an early-career communications specialist to join our collaborative, energetic and talented account team. This is an ideal position for a developing professional who is ready to grow in a fast-paced public affairs environment.

We work with a diverse mix of clients, including businesses, trade groups, nonprofits and government agencies. Our specialties include strategic counsel, navigating complex issues, mitigating risks, reputation support, and helping clients leverage big ideas to achieve their goals.

We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong interest in public affairs and communications. In this role, you’ll support clients by writing original content, supporting research projects, contributing to strategy sessions and helping manage ongoing communications work.

While relevant experience is helpful, we support and expect team members to learn on the job. Ideal candidates offer experience or interest in most of the following areas:

• Strong writing skills across formats − including earned media, social, print, and digital − with the ability to translate complicated issues into clear, compelling communications for varied audiences.
• Research and synthesize information, including policy materials, detailed reports, and opinion research, into clear, accessible communications.
• Develop and execute digital content strategies and media tracking, including social media planning and performance analysis.
• Create compelling visual and multimedia content, including graphics and short-form video (editing, integrating b-roll and on-screen elements).
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office and creative tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, website platforms (e.g., Squarespace), and video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
• Experience in a communications, public affairs, or related professional environment.
• A passion for client-centered work and a collaborative spirit.
