Summary of PositionThe Undergraduate Office of Admissions at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Marketing & Communications Manager leads the marketing communications efforts in support of outreach, recruitment and enrollment with a focus on event and enrollment management marketing during key stages in the enrollment process. These roles will work with various stakeholders within the Office of Admissions and across the University. This position will also create and maintain other general communications within the Office of Admissions as needed.
This role is hybrid, based on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. On-site work will be needed occasionally to support marketing materials management and occasional training. Work hours are typically between Monday - Friday and the successful candidate will work with their manager to finalize a core schedule.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
50% STRATEGIC DATA, COMMUNICATION INSIGHT AND PLAN DEVELOPMENT- Leads strategic data and insight development to inform communications planning and monitoring across all of our marketing communications work, specifically for recruitment and commitment work, direct marketing campaigns, and specialized audience segments.
- Leads strategic communications plan development.
- Provides consultation to internal stakeholders and communications team members. This represents expansion in complexity, scale and scope from prior sole focus on event promotions.
- Collaborates across team members to plan integrated channel and messaging strategies and lead data-informed marketing strategy for student, parent and school counselor audiences (US and International).
- Manages marketing and branding execution using those insights
- Leads cross-unit branding coordination.
- Scalable content infrastructure to aid in seamless and consistent use across team members
- Other duties as assigned.
- May include work with student staff, training and internal communications work.
- Trains staff and interns, produces onboarding resources, and serves as the communication liaison for internal committees and rapid-response efforts.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS plus at least six (6) years of relevant, transferable work experience in journalism or strategic communications.
- Excellent organizational and coordination abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking experience
- Experience with an email marketing platform and/or customer relationship management (CRM) technology.
- Experience with effective print communication development for publication or public distribution.
- Demonstrated ability to both work independently and take initiative, and well as collaborating with a variety of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large projects concurrently
- Demonstrated commitment to ensuring accessibility and fostering inclusion in work practices
- Experience in an admissions or recruitment setting.
- Familiarity with the University of Minnesota and its programs.
- Experience working with people of a wide array of backgrounds and cultures.
- Experience working in Slate CRM
