About Ground Break Coalition

Ground Break Coalition is mobilizing $5.3 billion over 10 years to close the racial wealth gap in the Twin Cities. Our work is ambitious, our partnerships are broad, and we need someone who understands the gravity and responsibility of this work and brings their talents to actualize on it.

  • Ground Break Coalition offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan contributions, generous paid time off, and paid holidays. We are committed to supporting the well‑being of our team members both professionally and personally.
Position Summary

The Manager, Communications & Brand Strategy lives at the intersection of strategy, design, and coordination. This person sets the direction for how Ground Break shows up everywhere — across channels, in the CEO's public presence, and alongside coalition partners — and brings the design sensibility to make that consistent and compelling. You should know more about this space than anyone else in the building — the team should be learning from you.

This is a hands‑on role: you'll set the strategy for Ground Break's brand and voice, and you'll also roll up your sleeves to help bring it to life — from a keynote deck to a coalition‑wide campaign.

What You'll Do
  • Set communications strategy. Define and evolve Ground Break's editorial point of view — what we say, how, and where — across every channel, from social to donor materials to coalition partners.

  • Shape our design and visual identity. Bring a strong eye for design to decks, one‑pagers, social graphics, and internal materials, so our work looks and feels intentional and on‑brand.

  • Coordinate across the coalition. Partner with coalition partners on coordinated storytelling so our collective impact reads as cohesive and amplified.

  • Support executive visibility. Support the CEO's personal platforms, maintaining a presence that reflects their voice and the weight of this work.

  • Own our channels. Manage Ground Break's social media platforms day‑to‑day, keeping our presence active, intentional, and on‑brand.

  • Create and curate content. Produce text, visuals, and short video, coordinating with team members and recipients so storytelling stays grounded in real people.

  • Use data to inform decisions. Use analytics and social listening to see what's landing and why, and bring that back to inform decisions.

  • Support internal communications. Assist with newsletters, staff messaging, and presentation design using existing templates.

Who You Are
  • A strategic thinker with strong design instincts. You can zoom out to set direction for Ground Break's brand and voice, and zoom in to make something look right — a deck, a caption, a one‑pager. You understand what makes content feel real versus performative.

  • A versatile coordinator — a true Swiss army knife. You move easily between strategy, design, writing, and project coordination, and you're comfortable being the connective tissue across the CEO's office, coalition partners, and your own execution.

  • Deeply fluent in how social media and digital culture work — not just the mechanics, but the conversations that matter — and equally comfortable building a strategy and executing it yourself. You don't need a large team to do great work, but you know how to collaborate with one.

  • Experience with nonprofits, coalitions, or economic justice organizations is a plus. Local candidates only. A portfolio that shows range and a point of view is a must. Final candidates will participate in a paid exercise to demonstrate ability.

What Success Looks Like
  • Ground Break's communications and design feel consistent and intentional across every touchpoint — from a social post to a board deck.
  • Coalition partners are…
