Press Assistant, Minnesotans for Klobuchar

Location:

Full-time, cycle position through November 15, 2026

Reports to:

Communications Director, Deputy Communications Director

Compensation:
Starting at $4,500/month, commensurate with experience

Position Overview

The Press Assistant will work in coordination with the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director to support day-to-day communications and media relations operations, execute projects as assigned, and ensure seamless organization and distribution of information across the communications team and Minnesotans for Klobuchar campaign. This is a fast-paced, in-person role that will require strong writing and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the news cycle, and full time in-person work.

Experience in Minnesota politics is preferred but not required. This is an entry-level position, though applicants with previous relevant political or campaign communications experience and ability to relocate and/or start quickly will be prioritized.

Key Responsibilities Media Monitoring
  • Draft and distribute daily news clips.
  • Monitor the news cycle related to the campaign and Minnesota politics more broadly across traditional media channels to bring relevant coverage to the communications team's attention in a timely manner.
Written Materials
  • Help manage the distribution and quality of written materials every day by occasionally composing initial drafts of advisories, talking points and other materials as assigned.
  • Occasionally assist with materials needed for the campaign's organic social media surrogacy program.
Operations and Coordination
  • Update and maintain internal documents such as press lists, press requests tracker, communications calendar, and more under supervision of the Deputy Communications Director and Communications Director.
  • Assist the communications team with events and associated materials from planning to execution, as well as special projects and strategic planning as needed.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the campaign's communications needs.
