Our firm is recruiting on behalf of a leading national retailer known for delivering innovative consumer products and exceptional brand experiences across multiple categories. We are seeking a Category Marketing Specialist to help bridge brand strategy, packaging development, and cross-functional execution to create compelling consumer experiences. This role is ideal for a marketing professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys managing complex projects, and can translate consumer insights and business objectives into effective packaging and brand initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in connecting strategy, operations, and execution across packaging programs while ensuring consistency and excellence throughout the consumer journey.

Job Description

As a Category Marketing Specialist, you will partner with cross-functional teams to develop and execute packaging and marketing initiatives that support brand growth and enhance the consumer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate brand, business, and packaging strategies into clear and actionable creative briefs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Brand Management, Creative, Production Design, Merchandising, Project Management, Strategy & Operations, Marketing, and Insights teams.
  • Leverage consumer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities that strengthen brand communication and improve the consumer experience.
  • Develop packaging strategies and recommendations that align with broader brand objectives and ensure consistency across products and channels.
  • Drive alignment among stakeholders to support successful project execution and business outcomes.
  • Manage project priorities, timelines, budgets, resources, and risks while ensuring projects remain on track.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to coordinate packaging initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Facilitate working sessions, establish project context, and support decision-making processes across project teams.
  • Track project performance, manage budgets, and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration and communication to achieve project goals.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, brand management, category marketing, packaging, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of collaboration and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting packaging, product marketing, brand marketing, or consumer goods initiatives.
  • Knowledge of consumer behavior, market research, and category trends.
  • Experience working within retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or related industries.
  • Familiarity with creative development and packaging production processes.
  • Experience managing budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
