Position: Temporary Employment Counselor

Overview

CAPI's mission is to guide refugees and immigrants in their journey toward self-determination. Key organizational values are rooted in equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Today, we are an inclusive, multi-lingual and immigrant-led nonprofit serving new refugees and immigrants including Minnesota's Asian, East and West African, and Latinx communities, as well as underserved US born communities. Over 7,000 individuals are served annually across two core service areas of Community Advocacy and Economic Prosperity.

CAPI is seeking a a temporary Economic Prosperity Employment Counselor. This is a full-time, hourly position scheduled Monday through Friday at 37.5 hours per week, with an assignment period from March 2, 2026, through May 26, 2026.

Responsibilities

The Economic Prosperity Employment Counselor will provide employment services for refugees, asylees, and other eligible immigrants. Participants receive job counseling to find permanent employment in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. This position works closely with clients to acquire or maintain employment, either through initial job placements to help participants enter the workforce, or to help participants improve economic stability through career advancement.

In addition to employment counseling and assistance, clients may receive financial or in-kind support to overcome barriers to employment. The Employment Counselor will also work to develop strong workforce and community connections in order to meet the employment and social service needs of CAPI's participants.
