Don’t Shoot Guns, Shoot Hoops is a nonprofit organization focused on violence prevention, healing, and leadership development for youth and young adults impacted by gun violence. Through basketball and mentorship, we provide safe, structured spaces where young people build confidence, resilience, and purpose.
After five successful Boys to Men camps, we are launching our first Girls to Women Basketball & Leadership Camp, an overnight experience designed to support girls as they grow into confident, capable young women.
Position SummaryThe Program Coordinator plays a critical leadership role in the success of the overnight camp. This position is responsible for daily operations, camper supervision, staff coordination, and safety oversight. Program Coordinators help create a structured, supportive environment where girls can learn, heal, and lead.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong leadership skills, experience mentoring or supporting girls and young women, and the ability to remain calm, organized, and supportive in a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily camp schedules and activities
- Supervise campers in an overnight environment
- Support staff and ensure program flow
- Respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional challenges
- Enforce camp rules, safety policies, and boundaries
- Assist with conflict resolution and crisis response
- Communicate regularly with program leadership
- Experience working with youth or young adults
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to supervise and support youth in an overnight setting
- Comfortable working with participants impacted by violence or trauma
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented
- Must be available for the entire duration of camp

- Experience in overnight or residential programs
- Background in youth development, education, social work, or counseling
- Trauma-informed training
- CPR/First Aid certification
