DESCRIPTIONThis position exists to establish and nurture partnerships and community relationships on the Minneapolis Riverfront and the City of Minneapolis to support community partnership programs at and with Mill City Museum and the goals of the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board.
This position provides administrative support to the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board. Working with the Board Chair and the Mill City Museum Site Manager, this position elevates the community presence and influence of the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board and provides comprehensive administrative, logistical, relational and governance support to the Heritage Board and its committee. This position ensures smooth board operations, efficient meeting cycles, and compliance with Minnesota law.
In addition, this position will, in collaboration with the Site Manager, establish, nurture, or maintain collaborative relationships with community partners to foster exchange and connection between the museum and its communities, and to co-create new meaningful partnership organization lead experiences that elevate and share the diverse histories.
SUMMARY OF WORK1) Manage and guide the planning and coordination of the Saint Anthony Falls Heritage Board;
2) Coordinate activities with partnership organizations; and
3) Support internal service at MCM and throughout the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies, administration, nonprofit management or equivalent experience in board relations and community engagement.
Three years experience as a board or community liaison.
Event and program planning experience.
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communications skills.
Knowledge of public administrative principles and policies.
Demonstrated application of a partnership mindset, with the capacity to grasp dynamics among partner organizations, stakeholders and the broader community to strengthen relationships and reach collective goals.
Ability to manage projects and oversee operations; to organize work plans, prepare budgets, spend within approved budgets, use the financial software, and keep records.
Experience and ability to work with a board of directors, elected officials, members of an organization’s senior leadership.
Demonstrated ability to think imaginatively and problem solve.
Ability to use discretion and keep confidentiality.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Demonstrated ability to represent an organization in appropriate and effective ways in a variety of public forums.
Knowledge of MNHS policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the history of Minneapolis, the Heritage Zone area, general American and Minnesota history.
Knowledge of current issues and practices in museum education and community engagement.
