Centro Tyrone Guzman is Minnesota’s oldest and leading Latine-serving organization, dedicated to improving the well‑being of Latine families through a holistic, intergenerational approach to education, health, and wellness. Our programs span the entire lifespan: from early childhood to youth engagement, maternal and family wellness, and older adult services.

Position Summary

Raices works with Latine youth in grades 6–12 through a broad range of holistic in‑school and out‑of‑school programs emphasizing academic support, personal and cultural identity, health and wellness, and leadership development. The program’s goal is to promote healthy behaviors, strengthen families and support Latine youth to achieve a successful future.

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for implementing activities in Raices. This position is directly supervised by the Raices Program Manager and will work in collaboration with other departments and partners. All activities will be provided in a culturally and linguistically responsive environment to support the holistic health and independent living of Latine families.

Job Responsibilities
  • Logistic coordination and implementation of activities and processes assigned, including but not limited to calling participants, communicating with marketing about program activities, purchasing and pick up of supplies and food, serving food, creating routes, arranging transportation, connecting with resources, set up and take down of meeting space.
  • Complete and implement the workplan for the Raices Program with the guidance of the Raices Program Manager.
  • Facilitate or co‑facilitate group sessions with youth and/or families at Centro Tyrone Guzman and/or partner schools.
  • Provide positive behaviour guidance for program participants.
  • Maintain positive communication, collaborative, and respectful relationships with coworkers/parents/guardians/community.
  • Assist youth participants in setting personal goals in education, health/wellness, personal and cultural development, and community involvement.
  • Keep accurate, up‑to‑date records of participants and program activities including attendance and evaluation surveys among others.
  • Ensure participant safety, communicating immediately with the supervisor in the event any accident or incident with participants, Centro’s vehicle or coworkers.
  • Foster collaboration with local schools, universities, and community organizations.
  • Make appropriate internal/external referrals for program participants/families.
  • Maintain private and confidential data in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Maintain receipts of all purchases in record following Centro procedures.
  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive social environment.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment (building, playground, vans, etc.)
  • Assist in facilitating family projects and events.
  • Assist the Administrator in preparing reports for funders and stakeholders.
  • Provide transportation for youth participants as needed and maintain an accurate record of miles driven.
  • Participate in organizational, team and individual professional development activities as assigned.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Experience in sexual health education is preferred.

  • Experience working with Latine families; knowledge, an in‑depth understanding of, and appreciation for the Latine culture, local Latine community and the ability to relate well, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Latines of diverse ancestry, family, and socioeconomic status.
  • A positive and open attitude towards youth is a requirement.
