Position Summary
Wildflyer Coffee is a social enterprise dedicated to ending youth homelessness through employment. The Development Manager advances this mission by managing and executing key components of Wildflyer’s fundraising strategy, including individual and institutional giving, donor engagement, communications, and events. The Development Manager works collaboratively across program, retail, marketing, and sales to identify stories, opportunities, and experiences that strengthen fundraising and community engagement.
The ideal candidate is an organized, creative, and proactive relationship-builder who takes ownership of projects, manages multiple priorities, and helps foster an organization-wide culture of donor engagement and mission advancement.
- Contribute to the development and execution of Wildflyer’s annual fundraising strategy
- Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, guiding relationships through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Develop strategies to grow Wildflyer’s individual donor base and increase donor retention and engagement.
- Plan and execute donor-focused experiences, including open houses, tours, appreciation gatherings, and other cultivation opportunities.
- Track fundraising activity and results and use donor data and insights to inform strategy.
- Lead Wildflyer’s institutional giving efforts, including prospect research, proposal development, grant writing, reporting, and relationship management.
- Maintain an organized calendar of grant opportunities, deadlines, proposals, reports, and funder communications.
- Build and maintain relationships with institutional funders and identify opportunities to deepen or expand support.
- Manage the planning and execution of fundraising and donor engagement events
- Develop event strategies that prioritize both fundraising outcomes and meaningful donor experiences.
- Represent Wildflyer at community events
- Build relationships with community members, businesses, organizations, and other potential supporters who can expand Wildflyer’s visibility, partnerships, and donor network.
- Identify opportunities to introduce new audiences to Wildflyer and convert community engagement into long-term support.
- Create compelling donor communications, appeals, impact updates, and other materials that inspire giving and deepen connection to Wildflyer’s mission.
- Partner with the Marketing & Sales Manager to align fundraising communications with Wildflyer’s broader marketing and communications strategy.
- Identify opportunities to use storytelling, events, and community outreach to increase awareness and grow Wildflyer’s donor base.
- Ensure fundraising communications are timely, accurate, compelling, and consistent with Wildflyer’s voice and brand.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in Little Green Light (LGL), including gift entry, acknowledgments, contact information, and relationship notes.
- Pull and analyze donor reports to support prospect identification, relationship management, campaign planning, and fundraising strategy.
- Monitor fundraising activity and prepare regular updates on progress toward goals.
- Assist the Executive Director with donor meeting preparation, scheduling, research, and follow-up.
- 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, community engagement, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, writing, and storytelling skills.
- Highly organized with strong project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Comfortable with donor conversations, direct asks, and building relationships with prospective and current supporters; grant writing or institutional fundraising experience preferred.
- Experience with donor databases such as Little Green Light (LGL) preferred
