About This Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing compassionate, quality, customer and family focused care. The RN assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents care of customers according to hospital and care center policies and standards of professional nursing practices. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered, defines, implements, and improves practice standards and environment of care while promoting exceptional customer care.

Duties may vary based on the assigned customer care center which may include differences in the required specific clinical skills. Actively and consistently demonstrates the mission, vision, values, and guiding principles of Maple Grove Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Review maternal prenatal history and collect signs and symptoms of the mother and newborn.
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the customer’s plan of care.
  • Perform admission, discharge, and transfer assessments considering both physical and psychosocial elements of mother, newborn, and family.
  • Recognize risk factors and changes in status and implement appropriate interventions for maternal and newborn care.
  • Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment indicates adverse symptomatology of the mother or newborn.
  • Manage basic life support needs and stabilize mother and newborn until the physician is available, based on nursing standards and protocol.
  • Record customer’s vital signs, assessments, patient care, and interventions as ordered.
