Position Overview
Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) to practice full-scope midwifery in the University of Minnesota Department of Obstetrics and Women’s Health – Division of OB/GYN and Midwifery, Minneapolis, MN.
Responsibilities- Practice full-scope midwifery, including pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, family planning, perimenopause/menopause and preventative care throughout the patient's lifetime.
- Provide patient care in accordance with the Standards of the Practice of Nurse-Midwifery as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).
- Attend births at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Birthplace.
- Collaborate with OB/GYN, MFM, and other specialties within the practice (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Urogyn, Pharmacy, Breast Health, Psychology).
- Support normal physiologic birth with modalities such as water birth, EFM telemetry/Monica, nitrous oxide, slings, birth balls, etc.
- Participate in teaching and precepting of CNM and NP students, medical students, family medicine residents, and OB residents.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and innovative care model development.
Work as part of a team of 11 full‑time CNMs and 2 casual CNMs across two clinic sites.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal nurse-midwife training program.
- Current MN RN license with Minnesota Board of Nursing prescription‑writing privileges.
- Certified through American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges with UMP/MHFV.
- Membership and involvement with the MN Affiliate of ACNM and national ACNM is expected.
- At least 3 years of clinical experience.
- Experience in teaching/precepting.
- Interest or experience working with historically marginalized populations.
- Hourly rate of $85 for clinic (8 hours) or call shifts (12 hours).
- Rotation includes night call (in‑house 0630 and 1830).
