Job Overview
Fairview has an immediate opening for an RN at the Blood and Marrow Transplant clinic and infusion center located on the University of MN East Bank Campus.
This role supports adult patients in an outpatient setting, splitting time between clinic and infusion (self-scheduling 4 weeks in advance).
This is a 0.01 FTE casual opening, meaning there are no scheduled shifts and the role is not elgibile for benefits.

Patients travel from across the country and around the world for Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) treatment at our hospitals. University of Minnesota Medical Center and University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital have provided compassionate, expert, innovative care and blood and marrow transplant (BMT) patients for over 40 years. Our program has been at the forefront of advances since performing the world's first successful BMT in 1968.

Overview
This RN Infusion performs independent nursing interventions and implements prescribed plans of care. The independent nursing includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient population(s) in the ambulatory care setting. Implementing plans of care include treatment and therapy plans, and other orders as prescribed within the clinic. It includes participation in and coordination of patient care with other health care team members.
The RN Infusion is responsible for performing these functions while working in collaboration with providers and care team members. The RN infusion performs these functions in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The RN Infusion delivers care that is sensitive to the unique needs of the ages served by the clinic. Delivery of care may include but is not limited to central (as applicable) and peripheral IV initiation and management, phlebotomy and blood draws, order management, medication administration including hazardous and antineoplastic agents, blood product and cellular therapy administration, wound care, pain management, performing and assisting with procedures, monitoring response to interventions, prompt recognition and intervention of hypersensitivity reactions, preparing and delivering patient education and assessing understanding of information, monitoring and taking vital signs, chart reviews, documentation, phone triage, coordination of care including rooming and discharging, assessing appointments, and monitoring standards of care.
Responsibilities
* Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
* Involves the patient, family, and other health care team members in gathering data.
* Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant data from patient and family.
* Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks.
* Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
* Validates outcomes and develops plan of care in collaboration with patient, family, and other healthcare team members.
* Documents data and identified outcomes.
* Implements nursing interventions based on plan of care.
* Provides care according to the plan, and in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures and relevant nursing practice guidelines.
* Coordinates nursing care with the appropriate measures to meet patient needs and achieve expected outcomes.
* Initiates age and culturally appropriate measures to meet patient needs and achieve expected outcomes.
* Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
* Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate personnel based on needs, condition, potential for risk/harm, complexity of the skills, predictability of outcomes, and patient flow.
Required Qualifications
* 1 year of nursing experience
* MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
* Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
* Current national certification, depending on area of specialty or the ability to obtain one within 18 months of start date or prorated for FTE appointment (if applicable for role).
* Maintain Oncology Nursing Society's ONS Provider Card or obtain within 30 days of start date (if applicable for role).
* Maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred Qualifications
* 2 years of acute care or infusion-based nursing experience
