Position SummaryThe Hospice Education Specialist provides support to agency leadership to coordinate and promote the internal and external education program required through the Medicare COP’s and Minnesota Statutes. This professional is responsible for the development and implementation of ongoing education requirements for all agency staff and for coordinating and presenting educational seminars to contracted direct patient care staff in Skilled Nursing Facilities.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurse
- Registered and licensed with the State of Minnesota as an RN, maintaining licensure
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; public speaking experience preferred
- Self‑motivated with strong organizational skills and initiative on new projects
- Current Minnesota Driver’s License, insurance and daily reliable vehicle access
- Minimum of 3 years’ hospice, home care or community health experience
Must be comfortable and competent in Microsoft Office programs, electronic medical records, learning management systems, and database management and analysis.
Job Duties- Maintain current knowledge of all regulatory training guidelines and practice guidelines for training requirements and ensure agency education and training reflects these guidelines.
- Coordinate or provide formal and informal training on an ongoing basis, including seminars, specific training and in‑services for agency staff.
- Create and distribute educational resources for patients and caregivers to improve quality of care.
- Work with internal and external subject matter experts to coordinate the delivery of education programs or modules.
- Coordinate and record all education and training activities in the agency’s education calendar.
- Monitor and evaluate ongoing staff development needs and access both internal and external resources, programs or workshops for the continuing education of staff members.
- Manage the agency Learning Management System to assign learning modules and monitor reports to facilitate leadership monitoring of staff compliance with education and training requirements.
- Assist with the infection control program, including FIT testing and vaccine clinics.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
