Job DescriptionMinneapolis College is seeking applicants for temporary part‑time and/or adjunct Nursing instructors within the School of Nursing, Health Sciences and Wellness. The Nursing Department is committed to excellence in teaching and learning to prepare students for an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and to sit for the NCLEX‑RN.
Instructor Responsibilities- Teach lab and clinical component of nursing courses to a very diverse student population.
- Create and edit instructional materials.
- Assess student performance.
- Organize and maintain instructional lab equipment.
- Participate in department meetings.
- Utilize campus technology to maintain professional skills and connect with faculty, staff, and students.
- Collaborate as a team player and devote time to student success and the success of students in the Nursing Program.
Instructor may receive between six (6) to twelve (12) total credits of instruction per academic semester.
Salary RangeCompensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part‑time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023‑2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
Minimum QualificationsEducation Requirement
Bachelor degree in nursing.
Occupational Experience RequirementFour full‑time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse.
Recency RequirementOne year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application. The recency requirement may be waived if the individual has two years of successful full‑time (or equivalent) post‑secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional RequirementCurrent Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Preferred Qualifications- DNP or Ph.D. in Nursing.
- Experience teaching college‑level nursing including theory, lab, and clinical.
- Experience serving diverse and historically under‑served populations.
- Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Proven commitment to student success and program completion.
- Experience with learner outcomes assessment and evaluation.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and evidence of a strong and clear understanding and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community colleges and their students, faculty, staff, administrators, and communities they serve.
- Working knowledge of instructional techniques and delivery methods such as online education, learning management systems (D2L Brightspace), digital technology, etc.
- Collaborative team player who is willing to devote time to student success and the success of the nursing division.
