Fairview has an immediate opening for an RN at the Blood and Marrow Transplant clinic and infusion center located on the University of MN East Bank Campus. This role supports adult patients in an outpatient setting, splitting time between clinic and infusion (self-scheduling 4 weeks in advance). This is a 0.9 FTE (72 hours per two-week pay period), benefits-eligible opening.

Patients travel from across the country and around the world for Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) treatment at our hospitals.
University of Minnesota Medical Center and University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital have provided compassionate, expert, innovative care and blood and marrow transplant (BMT) patients for over 40 years. Our program has been at the forefront of advances since performing the world s first successful BMT in 1968. Our teams have performed more than 6,000 BMTs since that time. Our BMT Program continues to thrive as one of the most respected BMT research and treatment programs in the world.
of RN Infusion Role
This RN Infusion performs independent nursing interventions and implements prescribed plans of care in an ambulatory care setting. It includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient populations, implementation of treatment and therapy plans, and other orders as prescribed within the clinic. The RN Infusion collaborates with providers and care team members and works in accordance with policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines.
The RN Infusion delivers care sensitive to the ages served by the clinic. Responsibilities may include central and peripheral IV initiation and management, phlebotomy, order management, medication administration (including hazardous and antineoplastic agents), blood product and cellular therapy administration, wound care, pain management, procedures, monitoring responses, recognizing and intervening on hypersensitivity reactions, patient education, vital signs, chart reviews, documentation, phone triage, care coordination, rooming, and discharge planning.
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Involves the patient, family, and other health care team members in gathering data.
- Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant data from patient and family.
- Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks.
- Identifies outcomes that are age-appropriate and culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
- Validates outcomes and develops a plan of care in collaboration with patient, family, and other healthcare team members.
- Documents data and identified outcomes.
- Implements nursing interventions based on the plan of care.
- Delivers care in accordance with policies, procedures, and nursing practice guidelines.
- Coordinates nursing care with appropriate measures to meet patient needs and achieve outcomes.
- Initiates age- and culturally appropriate measures to meet patient needs and achieve outcomes.
- Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
- Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities based on needs, risk, and complexity of skills.
- 1 year of nursing experience
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Oncology Nursing Society’s ONS Provider Card within 30 days
- National RN certification in the relevant area of specialty within 18 months of the start date, prorated by FTE
- 2 years of acute care or infusion-based nursing experience
