Children's Minnesota is a not-for-profit pediatric health system serving children from before birth through young adulthood throughout the Upper Midwest.

Department Overview

The Care Traffic Control Center (CTCC) oversees operations across three campuses, coordinating hospital nursing supervisors and staffing office personnel to monitor unit activity and staffing needs.

Position Summary

The Hospital Nursing Supervisor (HNS) directs, organizes, and coordinates overall activities of the hospital, exercising judgment and leadership during shifts. The HNS maintains efficient staffing, collaborates with unit leadership, RMCs, and charge nurses, and plays a critical role in patient placement, admission status, and facilitation of direct admissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage personnel during non‑inhouse weekdays and weekends/holidays.
  • Ensure efficient staffing and collaborate with unit leadership, RMCs, and charge nurses.
  • Facilitate patient placement, admission status, and direct admissions.
  • Interpret administrative/departmental policy and serve as liaison, clinical resource, and role model.
  • Triage operational or clinical issues and alert On‑Call leadership as needed.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to physicians, patients, families, and staff; perform investigations of incidents/occurrences.
License / Certification / Registration
  • Registered Nurse in MN required.
  • BLS required.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Completion of CPI or Behavioral Health Care & Personal Safety Course within 6 months of hire.
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years hospital‑based nursing experience.
  • Experience in nursing leadership in a hospital setting (e.g., managerial, supervisory, charge nurse, educator, resource nurse).
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems (Cerner); experience with electronic bedboard and surgery scheduling is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay is part of a total rewards program; the posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade.
