Overview
This position works 60 hours per 2 week pay period (.75 FTE) on the day shift (7am-7:30pm), 12 hour shifts, and every third weekend rotation.
We are hiring RNs for a newly defined area. Fairview is looking for the next RN to join the Inpatient Emergency Department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
The Registered Nurse in the EDIN (Emergency Department Inpatient Nurse) is responsible and accountable for monitoring and caring for inpatients who are admitted waiting for an inpatient bed. The department uses a multidisciplinary approach to emergencies and is cross trained to the Observation Unit.
This role will provide med/surg nursing experience within the ED setting. After one year of experience in this role, the RN will have an opportunity to cross-train and transition into the emergency department.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN will perform these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and cross-train toward the Observation Unit as needed.
- MN RN License
- BLS required
- AD required
- BSN or higher preferred
- Certification in related specialty is helpful
- One year of current medical/surgical RN experience in a hospital setting is desired
