Job Overview

Fairview has an immediate opening for an RN at the Masonic Infusion specialty within the Advanced Treatment Center located at the Clinics and Surgery Center on the University of Minnesota East Bank Campus.

This is a 0.8 Infusion RN FTE (64 hours per two‑week pay period) opening, onsite, eight‑hour shifts. Shift times range from 7 AM – 6 PM, with a weekend rotation (approximately every 5th weekend), 7 AM – 3 PM.

Overview

This RN Infusion performs independent nursing interventions and implements prescribed plans of care. The independent nursing includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient population(s) in the ambulatory care setting. Implementing plans of care includes treatment and therapy plans, and other orders as prescribed within the clinic. It includes participation in and coordination of patient care with other health care team members.

The RN Infusion is responsible for performing these functions while working in collaboration with providers and care team members, and in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The RN Infusion delivers care that is sensitive to the unique needs of the ages served by the clinic. Delivery of care may include but is not limited to central (as applicable) and peripheral IV initiation and management, phlebotomy and blood draws, order management, medication administration including hazardous and antineoplastic agents, blood product and cellular therapy administration, wound care, pain management, performing and assisting with procedures, monitoring response to interventions, prompt recognition and intervention of hypersensitivity reactions, preparing and delivering patient education and assessing understanding of information, monitoring and taking vital signs, chart reviews, documentation, phone triage, coordination of care including rooming and discharging, assessing appointments, and monitoring standards of care.

  • Involves the patient, family, and other health care team members in gathering data.
  • Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant data from patient and family.
  • Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks.
  • Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Validates outcomes and develops plan of care in collaboration with patient, family, and other healthcare team members.
  • Documents data and identified outcomes.
  • Implements nursing interventions based on plan of care.
  • Provides care according to the plan, and in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures and relevant nursing practice guidelines.
  • Coordinates nursing care with the appropriate measures to meet patient needs and achieve expected outcomes.
  • Initiates age and culturally appropriate measures to meet patient needs and achieve expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate personnel based on needs, condition, potential for risk/harm, complexity of the skills, predictability of outcomes, and patient flow.
Required Qualifications
  • 1 year of nursing experience
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
  • Oncology Nursing Society’s ONS Provider Card within 30 days
  • National RN certification in the relevant area of specialty within 18 months of the start date, prorated by FTE, within 1-1/2 years
