Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as a Pediatric Operating Room RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current PALS or ENPC certifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACLS certification
  • OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)
  • Other certifications and licenses that may be required for this position
Essential Work Functions
  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure
  • Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements
  • Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, adhering to infection control protocols and sterile technique
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow
  • Monitor patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon of any significant changes
  • Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols
  • Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results
  • Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly
  • Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care
  • Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards
  • Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical abilities: must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills: must work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor skills: must grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision occasionally, and handle irregular activity schedules
  • Sensory: must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
