Job Overview

Location:

M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN.
This Med/Surg RN will provide care to adult medical‑surgical patients requiring close observation, monitoring, and interventions. The role includes a varied patient population and a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Schedule

This is a 0.75 FTE position (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length is 12 hours on the day shift with an every‑3rd weekend rotation (F, S, S) and a holiday rotation.

Unit Information
  • Unit has 24 beds.
  • Care delivery: 4‑5 patient assignment on day, 5‑6 on night.
  • Patient diagnoses include sepsis, overdoses/withdrawals, surgical procedures, telemetry, diabetes, pneumonia, altered mental status (AMS), and more.
  • Key attributes: adaptability, willingness to learn, critical thinking, problem solving, flexibility, collaboration, patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities
  • Perform patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and outcome evaluation for all ages and populations.
  • Prioritize, delegate, and maintain oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
  • Establish and implement nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments as determined by patient condition and hospital policies, and re‑prioritize care accordingly.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver care by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of the population served.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and health care team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN)
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
