Join our team as an RN on the Pediatric Med/Surg IMC unit at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. This program has national recognition, including 2024 ranking on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals list, and the hospital’s status as Minnesota’s only academic children’s hospital with medical services in more than 50 specialty areas.
The unit provides care to pediatric cardiac, solid organ transplant, infectious disease, CF, pulmonary, general medical/surgical, ENT, trauma, and orthopedic patients and families, with 24 beds for patients ranging from infants to young adults. Critical care nursing is experienced in this intermediate care unit (IMC) with patients who have complex, multi-system health issues.

ScheduleThis position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every third weekend.

ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate, in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
- Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families
- Performs advanced monitoring using current technology
- Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies
- Cares for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit
- Demonstrates the ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment
- Bed capacity: 24
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2 to 1:4
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- 1+ years of RN experience
- Will consider new grads with internship/capstone in Pediatrics
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or BAN
- Cardiac Pediatric experience preferred
- 1-3 years of experience

CompensationThe posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of posting. An individual’s pay rate within this range may be influenced by factors such as FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program in place at the time of offer will be honored.
