As the LPN you will provide clinical care across intake, sick call, chronic care, and emergency situations. Your responsibilities include managing medications, coordinating external healthcare services, maintaining accurate medical records, and carrying out medical orders. This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position.
Pay & Benefits
- Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32- LELS 567: $64,480.00 to $90,230.40 annually ($31.00 to $43.38 per hour).

Work Location
- This position will work at the Anoka County Jail, located at 325 Jackson Street, Anoka, MN 55303.
- Anoka County Jail is staffed 24/7, we are looking to fill shifts with a schedule of three (3) – 12-hour shifts and an every third weekend rotation. Additional hours available to those interested.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the psychological, physical, and mental health needs of inmates.
- Order, administer, and/or distribute prescribed medications as directed.
- Prepare written records and reports and update charts containing information on treatments and procedures administered and observations regarding their condition.
- Implement nursing care and medical orders in a knowledgeable, safe, and responsible manner.
- Maintain all medical records related to health and medical screening and medical treatment administered to inmates while incarcerated.
- Consult with the interdisciplinary health care team to coordinate treatment efforts for individual care plans.
- Promote and demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Provide on-call coverage consistent with facility policies and standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Requires accreditation from a technical school or applicable trades program and at least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
- In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
- Successfully pass an extensive criminal background investigation.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Previous correctional health or similar experience.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- Standard office environment, correctional institution.
- Work activities may require contact with uncooperative, angry, and sometimes hostile clients depending on assignment.
