Schedule Option A:Full-time, 12.5-hour overnight shifts working Sunday through Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Schedule Option B:Full-time, 12.5-hour overnight shifts working Wednesday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Position Summary

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Registered Nurse to join our Withdrawal Management team. In this role, you will provide nursing care and withdrawal management support for adults experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring health conditions. You will conduct nursing assessments, monitor withdrawal symptoms, support medication management, and coordinate care for individuals beginning their recovery journey.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, trauma-informed, and person-centered withdrawal management services within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.

Admissions & Clinical Assessment

  • Complete clinical screenings, nursing triage assessments, and admission evaluations.
  • Assess medical stability, withdrawal risk, substance use history, mental health concerns, and appropriateness for admission.
  • Utilize evidence-based withdrawal assessment tools, including CIWA-Ar and COWS.
  • Identify clients requiring a higher level of care and coordinate appropriate referrals.
  • Complete nursing intake assessments, health screenings, medication reconciliation, and health history reviews.
  • Communicate significant clinical findings and recommendations to the treatment team.

Nursing Care & Withdrawal Management

  • Monitor withdrawal symptoms, client health status, and treatment progress throughout the withdrawal management stay.
  • Implement nursing interventions and provider orders consistent with scope of practice and program protocols.
  • Identify and respond to withdrawal complications, medication concerns, and medical emergencies.
  • Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary treatment team collaboration.
  • Provide health education related to withdrawal management, medications, wellness, and follow-up care.

Medication Management

  • Review, reconcile, and monitor medications upon admission and throughout treatment.
  • Assist with medication administration, medication education, monitoring, and prescribed injections as ordered.
  • Monitor effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions and communicate concerns to prescribing providers.
  • Maintain medication documentation, storage, accountability, and regulatory compliance standards.

Compliance & Care Coordination

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Coordinate care with hospitals, pharmacies, healthcare providers, and emergency medical services.
  • Support compliance with Minnesota Statutes Chapters 245A, 245C, and 245F, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable nursing standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, licensing reviews, training, and ongoing professional development.
