DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an Oncology Chemo Certified RN for a Magnet, Level III Trauma hospital, requiring active chemo certification and at least 1 year of specialty experience.
Details- Oncology Infusion RN role floating between three affiliated hospitals as needed
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
- No on-call requirement
- Open to accommodating block scheduling
- Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
- Short Term Acute Care, Magnet-designated, Teaching, Level III Trauma facility
- Active or pending MN RN license
- Current BLS certification
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of oncology experience required (2 years preferred)
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line care, and chemotherapy administration
- Experience managing chemotherapy side effects, oncologic emergencies, and symptom management
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, neutropenic precautions, and phlebotomy
- Experience caring for patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and blood cancers
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
- Submission requires date of birth, SSN, and RTO details
- Provide direct patient care in inpatient and outpatient oncology and infusion center settings
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and related medications while monitoring for adverse reactions
- Recognize and manage oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis and extravasation injury
- May float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Navy blue scrub color required
- RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
- Candidates must be gone at least 3 months since last worked as perm staff or per diem to be eligible for return
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates accepted only for radiology positions; all other positions require candidates live at least 100 miles from the facility
- Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to former perm employees
- Fingerprinting via Live Scan is a Minnesota state requirement with no exceptions; candidates must complete this in-state or at an approved location
