Program Trainer
Job Summary:
As a Program Trainer, you will be caring for, evaluating, and training future assistance dogs in preparation for their final program placement with a client.
Classification:
Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $21-26/hour

Full-time, including occasional evening and weekend hours
Reports to:
Client Services and Training Manager

Frequent Interactions With:
Client Services Coordinator, Kennel Staff, Puppy Program, Director of Training
- Prepare In-Final-Training dogs for final placement by evaluating, designing training plans, and monitoring progress.*
- Maintain daily training records.*
- Assist in evaluating dogs and puppies for program suitability.*
- Evaluate, monitor, and assist in canine health-related issues.*
- Provide basic care for dogs and puppies, including microchipping, vaccinations, grooming, and health checks.*
- Work with Puppy Program volunteers when returning or picking up dogs.*
- Communicate Kennel expectations and/or concerns to staff and volunteers.*
- Evaluate, monitor, and assist in feline health-related issues for our facility cats.*
- Make public presentations, including assistance dog demonstrations.*
- Contribute to the creation, review, and updates to training manuals.
- Transport dogs to vet appointments.
- Duties may include working facility tours and events.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required QualificationsEducation:
- High School or equivalent degree.
Experience:
- 5+ years knowledge and experience in dog training and care.
Experience:
- Knowledge of and experience in client relations, working with persons with disabilities, working with volunteers, and knowledge of Assistance Dog International (ADI) regulations are preferred.
