Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage.
About the role    National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity to work as part of the team facilitating invasive species management across National Parks in Western NSW. Western NSW contains some of Australia's most beautiful and unique natural landscapes, plants and animals. The region also contains numerous threatened species and significant Aboriginal Cultural Heritage. Reducing the number of invasive species will directly benefit many threatened species and protect these unique landscapes and significant sites.
Working closely with the Conservation Team, the role offers variety in day-to-day tasks and the opportunity to contribute to the improvement of invasive species management. Working with agency staff and other government agencies, you will plan and deliver aerial pest management operations including monitoring, reporting and evaluation. You’ll help our operational staff and stakeholders with technical advice, training as well as support compliance with legislation and policies to improve the way we manage pest species across our national parks.
At times, the role will require you to work in remote and difficult environments where a moderate level of fitness is required.
About you    This opportunity is suited to an enthusiastic and committed team player with a high level of experience in weed and pest animal management in natural landscapes. We’re keen to hear from you if you have demonstrated experience in planning and delivering pest management operations including survey and monitoring activities, data collection,            collation and evaluation, and providing field and technical assistance.

The ability to interpret and apply relevant pest management legislation including the Biosecurity Act and the practical application of pesticides will be highly regarded. A willingness and ability to obtain a NSW firearms licence is highly desirable.
Essential requirements     - Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
