Job Description
The Quality Engineer will execute quality control activities within a fabrication shop supporting microelectronics capital projects. This engineering role focuses on ensuring products meet stringent quality standards the first time, with minimal rework or delays. The position requires an experienced, forward-thinking quality professional who contributes actively as a member of the Quality Team and helps secure the expected quality of all fabricated products.
Responsibilities
+ Execute quality control activities in a fabrication shop environment for microelectronics capital projects.
+ Ensure products meet defined quality requirements on the first pass, minimizing rework, defects, and schedule delays.
+ Perform welding inspections to verify compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
+ Review and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and structural documentation to validate quality criteria.
+ Apply ISO 9001 principles and procedures to maintain and improve the quality management system.
+ Conduct supplier audits to assess and monitor supplier quality performance and adherence to standards.
+ Support and perform quality assurance activities throughout the production process.
+ Identify, investigate, and document nonconformities and quality issues.
+ Lead or participate in root cause analysis to determine underlying causes of defects or process deviations.
+ Recommend and help implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product and process quality.
+ Collaborate with engineering, production, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related concerns.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging Six Sigma tools and methodologies where applicable.
+ Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and audit documentation.
+ Support a culture of quality and accountability within the fabrication shop and broader project teams.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering.
+ Hands-on experience with quality engineering in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and its application within a quality management system.
+ Experience performing welding inspections and evaluating weld quality.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and structural documents.
+ Proficiency in quality assurance practices and quality control methodologies.
+ Experience conducting supplier audits and assessing supplier quality performance.
+ Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and develop effective corrective actions.
+ Familiarity with Six Sigma principles;
Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
+ Attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document findings clearly.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or AWS certification is a strong plus.
+ Experience in microelectronics or capital project environments is beneficial.
+ Experience in mechanical or structural fabrication quality is advantageous.
+ Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma tools.
+ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple quality activities simultaneously.
+ Forward-thinking mindset with a focus on improving processes and preventing defects.
+ Interest in professional growth and taking on increasing responsibility over time.
Work Environment
This role is primarily based in a cubicle office setting, with regular collaboration across engineering and production teams. The Quality Engineer will spend occasional time on the fabrication shop floor to conduct inspections, audits, and investigations, and may travel domestically on a minimal basis for supplier visits or project needs. The environment supports complex and technically interesting projects in the microelectronics capital space, offering opportunities for growth and involvement in impactful, high-visibility work.

This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
