The Quality Engineer drives product and process quality within an aerospace manufacturing environment. The role owns the full lifecycle of internal nonconformances, MRBs, RMAs, and customer complaints—from investigation through final closure—while performing structured failure analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions. The engineer supports AS9100 compliance and partners closely with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve issues and enable continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Own internal nonconformances, MRB activities, RMAs, and customer complaints from initial investigation through final closure.
- Perform detailed failure analysis and root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving methods such as 8D and 5 Whys.
- Develop, implement, and verify effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Track, document, and report quality metrics, complaint trends, and improvement results to stakeholders.
- Support AS9100 audits by maintaining accurate records, technical documentation, and evidence of compliance.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues, drive corrective actions, and improve processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools to enhance product quality, efficiency, and consistency.
- Provide inspection and production quality support, including hands‑on use of mechanical inspection tools when needed.
- Utilize standard quality tools, including APQP and statistical process control (SPC), to monitor and improve processes.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities and coordinate with customers and suppliers to address quality‑related concerns.
- Experience in quality engineering within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with AS9100 quality management systems, ideally supporting precision‑machined components.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with hands‑on experience using structured methods such as 8D and 5 Whys.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Experience with standard quality tools, including APQP and other industry‑recognized methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and analysis.
- Experience using ERP systems to support quality and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge and practical use of SPC (Statistical Process Control) for process monitoring and improvement.
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to document findings and present results clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with both customers and suppliers.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Knowledge in supporting precision‑machined components within an aerospace or similar high‑precision manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Comfort working cross‑functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
This onsite role is based in a manufacturing facility in Minneapolis, MN, requiring daily presence. The quality engineer interacts closely with production, inspection, and supplier teams and routinely uses mechanical inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs. The environment is fast‑paced, emphasizes documentation, process discipline, and continuous improvement, and values clear communication and hands‑on engagement with shop‑floor activities.
Job Type & LocationPermanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay And Benefits- Salary range: $79,000.00 – $96,000.00 per year.
