The R&D Technician II will support product development and testing activities within a medical device research and development environment. This role is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical, electrical, dimensional, and visual tests while maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating with engineering teams. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, conditioning, dimensional, and visual testing on medical devices and components.
  • Follow detailed written procedures, protocols, and verbal instructions.
  • Document test activities and results using established documentation practices.
  • Communicate testing observations, findings, and results to engineering teams.
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and measurement tools including calipers, force gauges, multimeters, digital thermometers, and other test instruments.
  • Assist with product evaluations, data collection, and reporting activities.
  • Maintain an approximately 85% laboratory and 15% documentation‑based workload.
  • Support ongoing research, development, and product verification activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree, technical certification, post‑secondary education, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in a testing, laboratory, manufacturing, assembly, or technical environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Experience using measurement and testing equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in medical device testing, regulated manufacturing, or product development environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and data collection systems.
  • Experience supporting research and development teams.
  • Knowledge of product assembly, inspection, or quality testing processes.
  • Experience drafting or maintaining technical documentation.
