The R&D Technician II will support product development and testing activities within a medical device research and development environment. This role is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical, electrical, dimensional, and visual tests while maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating with engineering teams. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform mechanical, electrical, conditioning, dimensional, and visual testing on medical devices and components.
- Follow detailed written procedures, protocols, and verbal instructions.
- Document test activities and results using established documentation practices.
- Communicate testing observations, findings, and results to engineering teams.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.
- Operate laboratory equipment and measurement tools including calipers, force gauges, multimeters, digital thermometers, and other test instruments.
- Assist with product evaluations, data collection, and reporting activities.
- Maintain an approximately 85% laboratory and 15% documentation‑based workload.
- Support ongoing research, development, and product verification activities.
- Associate degree, technical certification, post‑secondary education, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 to 4 years of experience in a testing, laboratory, manufacturing, assembly, or technical environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Experience using measurement and testing equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Experience in medical device testing, regulated manufacturing, or product development environments.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and data collection systems.
- Experience supporting research and development teams.
- Knowledge of product assembly, inspection, or quality testing processes.
- Experience drafting or maintaining technical documentation.
