Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector works in a dedicated quality lab, performing calibration, first article inspections (FAIs), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities. This role focuses on inspecting parts made from a variety of materials such as steel, aluminum, and plastics, using advanced metrology equipment including a Zeiss CMM and Keyence inspection systems. The Quality Inspector independently programs and operates inspection equipment, maintains accurate documentation, supports receiving inspection, and records results in the ERP system to ensure consistent product quality.

• Perform detailed inspection of parts made from various materials, including steel, aluminum, and plastic, to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
• Independently program and operate Zeiss CMM and Keyence optical inspection systems for part measurement and verification.
• Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and complete all associated documentation accurately and on time.
• Manage and execute PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities, ensuring all required documentation and measurements are completed correctly.
• Handle calibration of measuring and testing equipment, maintaining accurate records of calibration status and schedules.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to perform dimensional inspections.
• Accurately document inspection results, calibration data, and quality findings in both internal records and the ERP system.
• Support receiving inspection by verifying incoming parts and materials against specifications and documenting results.
• Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings to determine inspection requirements and tolerances.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the quality lab and production areas to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.
• Learn and apply programming techniques for optical inspection systems such as OGP, Nikon, and Keyence to expand inspection capabilities.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area within the quality lab and follow all quality and safety procedures.

• Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with PC-Dmis or other quality software for inspection programming and data analysis.
• At least 1 year of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) experience.
• At least 1 year of First Article Inspection (FAI) experience.
• At least 1 year of experience programming optical inspection systems (OGP, Nikon, Keyence).
• Experience with calibration of measuring and testing equipment, with at least 1 year preferred.
• Proficiency in operating CMM equipment, including Zeiss systems.
• Proficiency in operating Keyence inspection systems and other optical inspection equipment.
• Strong ability to complete accurate and thorough documentation related to inspections, PPAP, FAIs, and calibration.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, including dimensions and tolerances.
• Hands-on experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small lab team.

• CMM programming experience is a strong plus.
• Keyence inspection system experience is highly desirable.
• Experience with OGP and Nikon optical inspection systems is beneficial.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for recording inspection and quality data.
• Comfort working with a variety of materials, including metals and plastics, in an aerospace-focused environment.
• Strong organizational skills for managing documentation and calibration records.
• Willingness to learn programmable micro-view systems and expand technical capabilities.
• Continuous improvement mindset and interest in developing skills that can lead to performance-based pay increases.

The position is based in a 60-person machine shop that serves the aerospace industry, featuring a machining area, a dedicated quality lab, and a painting booth.
