Description
The Property Management Intern will earn a well‑rounded knowledge of property management and affordable housing compliance skills by working alongside the Portfolio Managers of Trellis Management.
In addition to the outlined duties and responsibilities, it is expected that the employee upholds a positive work environment and embodies Trellis' mission to cultivate a culture of collaboration, respect, trust, and open communication by assuming best intentions in all interactions, both internally and in service to the residents.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to marketing leads via email, phone or walk‑in.
- Conduct property tours virtually or in‑person.
- Enter prospects in Yardi.
- Assist in the lease‑up process by working with the Compliance team to qualify prospective resident households through processing tax credit applications (income, asset, student verifications, etc.)
- Enter applicants in Yardi screening and monitor for results.
- Prepare and execute the lease and attachments.
- Enter application fees, rent and deposits collected from applicants and new move‑ins into Yardi and Rent Café.
- Create and organize the resident file.
- Fair Housing Law.
- Policies, procedures, and reasonable accommodations.
- Knowledge and comprehension of various funding sources within Trellis Management properties and the eligibility requirements that are required by each source.
- Rent Café and Voyager training.
- Communication training, both verbal and written.
- Cyber Awareness Training.
- Other Trellis University Training as assigned.
In addition, the Property Management Intern will perform other reasonable business‑related duties as assigned.
Requirements Required Skills/Abilities- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Professional and pleasant telephone manner.
- Ability to multitask.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- This internship is designed for candidates pursuing a degree in property management, business, or real estate. Applicants should be seeing to build a career in the property management or the real estate industry.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
