Temporary Summer - Garry Lab

About the Job

Lab maintenance (70%):

• Clean lab glassware and equipment as needed
• Sterilize and properly dispose of discarded research materials
• Help maintain a clean and functional laboratory
• Perform inventory and stocking of lab supplies and research materials

Research responsibilities (25%):

• Assist postdoctoral fellows and other senior scientists to perform biological assays
• Laboratory mouse care and genotyping
• Biological sample preparation and analysis
• Cell culture maintenance
• Participate in lab meetings
• Weekly report of research progress to lab director/supervisor(s)

Record keeping (5%):

• Keep complete and updated lab records and notes

Required Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate student

Preferred Qualifications:

• Motivated individuals, sophomore and up, able to work independently and take direction effectively.
• Willingness to handle laboratory mice.
• Familiarity of basic molecular biology concepts and prior laboratory experience through coursework or research.

Pay Range: $15.25-$17.00/hour

Student workers are eligible to participate in the Student Health Benefit Plan, if they maintain 6 or more eligible course credits within a given semester. The same applies for Undergraduate Students, Graduate Assistants, Residents, Fellows and Interns.
