About the Job
Human immunology research - 50%
* Using peptide: MHC II tetramers to identify and phenotype antigen specific CD4 T cells in immune responses by flow cytometry. The goal is to use these techniques to understand normal immune responses to microbes and how these are different from abnormal responses to self-antigens in autoimmunity.
* ELISAs to detect antibody responses and levels of cytokines
* CITE single cell RNA sequencing and analysis
* Working with clinical research staff to transfer and organize human blood and serum samples from clinical to laboratory research space
Mouse Immunology Research - 25%
* Tetramer pull downs to detect antigen/specific CD4 T cells in mouse models of autoimmune disease
* Flow cytometry, ELISA, immunofluorescence microscopy
* Mouse CT scans
* Mouse genotyping, colony management
Data analysis, ordering, and lab organizational duties, etc.
- 25%
* Flow Jo, Excel, Prism, Acrobat, Power Point
* Ordering supplies and reagents necessary to conduct the above research
* Liquid nitrogen dewar organization
* Weekly meetings with PI
* Weekly lab meetings
* Attendance at Center for Immunology seminars
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials
Required Qualifications:
* BS/BA and 1 years of related experience or equivalent combination a combination of education and work experience to equal five (5) years.
* At least one year of laboratory research or laboratory operations experience.
* Experience performing cell culture techniques and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.
* Experience following laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and documentation requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret research data.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a research environment, as evidenced by recommendations from faculty mentors, principal investigators, or research supervisors.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
