Position Summary
The Wernimont Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team focused on placenta biology. Our lab investigates the mechanisms underlying placental development and function, with an emphasis on maternal-fetal health. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge research in reproductive and developmental biology. The position is full‑time, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate key aspects of placenta biology.
- Utilize molecular, cellular, and bioinformatics approaches to analyze placental structure and function.
- Develop and apply novel techniques to study trophoblast differentiation, mitochondrial function, and nutrient transport.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Analyze, interpret, and present data at scientific conferences and in peer‑reviewed publications.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as part of the lab's training mission.
- Ph.D. in molecular biosciences, cellular biology, developmental biology, physiology, genetics, or a related field.
- Strong background in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics.
- Experience with placental biology, trophoblast research, or pregnancy‑related disorders is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
- Experience with next‑generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, or imaging techniques.
- Proficiency in computational biology tools for transcriptomic and genomic data analysis.
- Familiarity with animal models of pregnancy or human placental tissue and organoid studies.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including peer‑reviewed publications.
Pay Range: $61,008-$66,492 (depending on education/qualifications/experience)
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
