Responsibilities- 90% Research and data analysis:
- Individual will provide support for laboratory research including lab maintenance, media preparation, and ordering.
- Individual will conduct complex, multi-step laboratory procedures based on written protocols and instruction from PI or other senior researchers. The individual will analyze molecular and microbiological data (genotypes and phenotypes) of human fungal pathogens. Individual will be expected to select and adapt methods to meet specific research needs and to assist in development of new laboratory techniques. Previous experience working in a microbiology laboratory and with fungi is recommended.
- Individual is expected to maintain a detailed notebook, tabulate, and graph data, and interpret results on all pipelines/procedures independently.
- Individual will be expected to read relevant scientific literature as suggested by the investigation and to identify relevant facts, techniques, and procedures from the primary literature.
- Individual will be expected to contribute to manuscript writing, generate figures, tables, and results related to their research, and write up the methods section and main results/findings related to their research.
- 10% Data management:
- Individual will be involved in the operation and maintenance of equipment, data management, and assistance in the preparation of data for manuscripts and grants.
- Individual will work closely with other laboratory personnel to coordinate work schedules for execution of complex studies.
All required qualifications must be included in the application materials
- BS in Biology, Chemistry, or related Biomedical Sciences or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
- Previous experience with molecular biology and/or yeast engineering.
- Previous experience working in a microbiology and genomics lab.
- Detail oriented and able to multitask research projects.
- Independently design and execute experiments involving PCR, primer design, yeast strain engineering and validation.
- Experience managing and utilizing yeast collections, including yeast deletion and over-expression collections, and barcoded libraries.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
