Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to other lab staff regarding lab research, procedures, and protocols, plus new lab member orientation; ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and access to the lab is granted.
- Serve as the lab safety Officer.
- Maintain records of data per protocol requirements and submit protocols to IACUC, IBC, and IRB.
- Attend lab meetings for all labs.
- Contribute to writing and editing manuscripts and journal articles for publication.
- Troubleshoot lab and technology issues.
- Order lab supplies, including lab animals, by coordinating orders with the CNC.
- Maintain IACUC/IBC protocols and coordinate IACUC inspections.
- Work with the pre‑grant team to generate budgets, attend lab finance meetings, and review finances with the PIs.
- Monitor and maintain liquid nitrogen levels in LN2 dewars for cell cryopreservation.
- Collect cryosections of tissue samples.
- Perform immunohistological staining.
- Analyze tissue using microscopy and related techniques.
- Assist with elements of all animal surgeries when extra hands are needed.
- Deliver functional testing when extra hands are needed.
- Keep track of animals and maintain compliance with Research Animal Resources.
This position may require occasional weekend animal checks, and the role includes maintaining a call schedule for the animals so that there is always someone responsible on weekends.
QualificationsAll required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in science and four years related experience, or a combination of education and work experience that equals eight years.
- Previous experience in lab management.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IACUC, IBC, and IRB protocol submissions, ordering laboratory supplies and animals, and managing laboratory budgets.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Pay Range: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour; depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
- Time Appointment: 100% Appointment.
- Position Type: Civil‑Service & Non‑Faculty Labor Represented Staff.
