Lab Assistant
As a Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in processing raw biological materials, primarily cow and pig blood, by separating the red and white blood cells to support the production of calibrators for hematology instruments. Your responsibilities include maintaining and cleaning production equipment and containers after processing runs in an FDA-regulated lab environment.
Responsibilities- Operate centrifuges and clean dishware.
- Wrap cleaned equipment for further sterilization.
- Batch and label products accurately.
- Document results and processes, referencing past batch records.
- Understand and adhere to lab protocols and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), including regulatory awareness of chemical handling and hazards, compliance, and proper equipment use.
- Follow daily work instructions and priorities as set by the supervisor with a commitment to safety.
- Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and identify area for improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- General laboratory skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Knowledge of chemistry.
- Ability to follow SOPs.
- Comfortable working with pig and cow blood.
- Math skills required for dilutions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science (preferred).
- Able to work both as a team and independently (verified by references).
The lab is located in a well-lit basement where Lab Assistants will be on their feet all day, wearing a lab coat, goggles, and hairnet. Headphones are permitted while working. This clean environment involves handling large amounts of blood to remove red and white blood cells. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, with little overtime or weekend work.
Remote work is not available.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00–$21.00/hr.
