Position: Research Assistant, Center for Indian Country Development

Overview

Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis – Center for Indian Country Development (CICD). We seek an early‑career quantitative analyst to deepen understanding of tribal economies and economic outcomes through policy‑relevant research.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with CICD researchers to conduct data analysis using code‑based tools (primarily R) on questions related to tribal economies.
  • Respond to requests for ad‑hoc data analysis and interpretation.
  • Develop data visualizations for CICD articles, presentations, and other content.
  • Support the maintenance of CICD’s public‑facing data products.
  • Lead literature reviews.
  • Work onsite full time; expect presence in the office five days per week for meetings and collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Specific rationale for choosing this role and CICD.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, quantitative social science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in R or Stata with demonstrated project‑based experience.
  • Effective team‑based work and self‑directed learning/problem‑solving.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to proficiency in R and Git.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Indian Country context, institutions, and economic issues.
  • Knowledge of business dynamics.
  • Experience with written and/or visualized data analysis.
  • Collaborative work in a data‑rich environment.
  • Existing proficiency in R.
  • Advanced coursework in statistics, econometrics, and/or programming.
  • Experience with Git version control.
Salary & Benefits

The full salary range is $59,300 – $88,900. Expected starting salary is $59,300 – $65,000.
