Our client is a leading food research organization and is seeking a R&D Technician to support research and development activities with their team! This position will work alongside research scientists to support the completion of research projects and activities, conduct pilot-scale trials in a food-grade laboratory, perform routine analysis, report and communicate results, and maintain pilot plant equipment.
Located in Minneapolis, MN
1 year contract w/Extension
Pay: $22-28/hour
1st shift scheduleKey Responsibilities
- Provide support to research scientists in the completion of research projects and activities.
- Conduct pilot fermentation trials and routine experiments.
- Perform microbiological plating and routine analysis as needed.
- Organize, document, and communicate experimental results.
- Execute designed experiments and troubleshoot issues that arise during experimentation.
- Make appropriate corrections during experimentation as needed.
- Maintain pilot plant and laboratory equipment.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational.
- Follow corporate EHS and Food Safety requirements and procedures.
- Support research initiatives related to core technology components, enabling sciences, ingredients/product lines, and food or feed applications.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related Science field.
- Experience conducting fermentations and overarching knowledge of fermentation biology.
- 6 months to 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing facility
- Hands-on experience with microbiology sampling, sterile technique, and/or fermentation principles and operation.
- Experience with downstream purification technologies
- Ability to execute designed experiments, troubleshoot issues, and make corrections during experimentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
