Position Overview
The District Director is responsible for maximizing the profitability of the retail division through creating strong relationships with cross‑functional partners and using these relationships to communicate the needs of the business, influence strategy and decisions, and provide timely feedback. The role includes staffing, merchandising, communication, operations, and creating a selling culture in the stores in their District that drives sales and creates a wow experience for customers.
This leader serves as an example of intent and purpose, ensuring that all Senior Store Managers and Store Managers lead their teams accordingly. The District Director maintains a presence through ongoing visits and touch bases, assessing best‑in‑class service, selling skills, operational efficiency, and adherence to company Leadership Competencies and WELDS. They provide leadership training and coaching for senior and store managers, guide them in leadership, selling culture, profitability, store standards, cleanliness, “crisp” merchandising, and operational execution, using in‑the‑moment feedback and detailed visit summaries.
The role also involves inspiring stewardship of the brand and ensuring timely execution of all New Store Openings and remodels within the District.
This position will oversee the West District and can be located in the following markets:
- Denver, CO
- Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN
- Salt Lake City, UT
- Drive Profitability and Efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Director Group on tools and resources needed to allow store teams to operate at peak efficiency, provide a wow experience to customers, and maximize sales and profits.
- Actively participate in planning for future seasons to proactively avoid problems and provide clarity on downstream effects of decisions or plans on store teams and customer experience.
- Act as gatekeeper for any tasks involving the retail team, ensuring realistic parameters, right timing, and ROI for labor spent.
- Goals Achievement:
- Demonstrate leadership abilities in driving KPIs within the District, focusing on sales, profitability, ATV, UPT, conversion, mixed cart, and customer capture.
- Monitor and evaluate individual/store performance in sales and expense budgets, shrink mitigation, customer engagement, leadership and culture, and other metrics designated by senior leadership.
- Implement and monitor action plans to ensure achievement of store and divisional goals.
- Inspire a selling‑through‑service and experience environment consistently.
- Leverage company selling behaviors.
- Integrate the in‑store buying experience with Omni Experience initiatives.
- Sales Management / Customer Service / Selling
Skills:- Ensure all employees in the District are trained in company standards for appearance, performance, and knowledge.
- Remain abreast of competition, benchmark best‑in‑class service, and drive to exceed customer expectations.
- Coach managers to effectively staff and schedule to maximize sales and profitability; monitor the use of all customer service tools.
- Inspire the team to achieve yearly sales growth through consistent execution of company selling behaviors, grassroots marketing, efficient operations, and appropriate merchandising.
- Human Resources / Management
Skills:- Recruit, hire, train, and lead Senior Store Managers and Store Managers, with indirect responsibility for employees and other management personnel within the District.
- Ensure managers schedule staff to meet payroll and productivity goals.
- Demonstrate professionalism when dealing with customer or employee issues.
- Maintain an acceptable turnover rate within the District.
- Provide coaching and feedback to Senior Store Managers and Store Managers regularly.
- Assess performance and conduct appraisals and other HR documentation timely and efficiently.
- Ensure personnel records are sent to HR partners promptly.
- Handle disciplinary situations, including termination, per company guidelines.
- Loss Prevention:
- Supervise policies and procedures regarding loss prevention, security, and ensure they are followed.
- Maintain acceptable inventory shortages.
