As a Sales Manager, you'll play a key role in hands‑on sales professional responsible for driving revenue growth and building strong customer relationships across our retail accounts. In this individual contributor role, you’ll own the full sales cycle—from prospecting and account development to negotiation, execution, and ongoing account management. You’ll identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, maintain pricing discipline, and work cross‑functionally to ensure seamless execution.
This role requires a self‑starter who can operate independently while partnering closely with leadership and internal teams to achieve business goals. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, retail expert, and proven driver of sales growth in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
We are looking for a data‑driven team player with 5+ years of CPG sales experience to drive growth in a fast‑paced, retail‑focused environment. The ideal candidate combines strong negotiation skills with proficiency in syndicated data (Nielsen/SPINS) to exceed targets and manage accounts independently.
Key Responsibilities- Own and manage relationships with key retail accounts and broker partners, serving as the primary point of contact for all sales activities
- Lead buyer meetings, line reviews, and business reviews with food, drug, and mass retailers
- Develop and execute Joint Business Planning (JBP) initiatives to align retailer strategies with company objectives
- Drive new account acquisition and identify white space opportunities for category expansion
- Leverage promotional, seasonal, and market insights to support demand planning and revenue growth initiatives
- Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, and terms while maintaining margin performance
- Manage the complete sales pipeline from lead generation through close
- Develop annual sales plans and forecasts in partnership with the business VP, incorporating market insights and customer data
- Track and report on sales performance against goals, providing regular updates and strategic recommendations
- Actively participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings to align demand and supply planning
- Coordinate promotional calendars with retailers, brokers, and internal teams to optimize in‑market execution
- Analyze POS data, category trends, and syndicated sources (Nielsen, SPINS, Circana) to identify growth opportunities and inform strategy
- Partner with operations, finance, and product teams to ensure order accuracy, on‑time delivery, and customer satisfaction
- Communicate customer needs, market trends, and competitive intelligence across the organization
- Support demand planning efforts with accurate forecasting and promotional insights
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase sales efficiency
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive activities, and customer needs
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years sales or account management required; CPG industry experience strongly preferred
- Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets in a retail environment
- Strong negotiation, relationship‑building, and communication skills
- Self‑motivated with ability to work independently and manage time effectively
