Position Summary

Promote and sell the Minneapolis Convention Center and City of Minneapolis as a premier destination for small, mid‑market, and city‑wide meetings, conventions, and events. Achieve KPI targets to support the economic impact on the community, local hotels and the city.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Achieve annual revenue potential and other job‑related goals as assigned.
  • Prospect for new business by conducting calls, in-person visits, email communication, trade‑show and event attendance.
  • Conduct professional phone conversations, electronic correspondence and personal visits with meeting planners, hotel sales personnel, and other hospitality suppliers.
  • Attend Meet Minneapolis Director of Sales Meetings, MCC sales meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Manage event activity through proposals, Letters of Commitment (LOC), Schedule A documents, PFOs, SEPs, addenda, deposits, cancellations, and other sales documentation.
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage client agreements, including city‑wide events.
  • Collect deposits or outstanding bills and manage space revenue and cancellations.
  • Manage progress of tentative accounts and accounts of Meet Minneapolis National Account Executive Partners.
  • Create and coordinate all aspects of MCC portion of bid proposals for local and city‑wide events.
  • Attend semi‑monthly sales meetings and other sales‑related meetings as necessary.
  • Update and utilize all databases provided by Momentus and IDSS.
  • Attend trade shows or travel for sales calls and presentations as required.
  • Develop and execute sales presentations.
  • Coordinate and conduct MCC client site inspections as required.
  • Strive to improve the effectiveness of the MCC sales organization.
  • Communicate future activities to other MCC and Meet Minneapolis departments with adequate lead time if schedules may be impacted.
  • Conduct activities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of MCC contractors, Meet Minneapolis partners, hotels, and other local businesses.
  • Utilize all MCC and Meet Minneapolis technology to its complete capability.
  • Provide direct and indirect support of performance goals as defined in the contract with the City of Minneapolis.
  • Effectively carry out duties as assigned by the President/CEO, Senior Vice President Destination Sales, Executive Director Sports Minneapolis, and Executive Director of the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Essential Experience, Education, and Certifications
  • Four‑year degree from an academic institution (business or hospitality preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of hospitality industry sales experience; convention bureau or convention hotel experience preferred.
  • Strong and consistent ability to prioritize activities within time guidelines and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to operate computers, e‑mail system and general office equipment.
  • Valid private driver’s license.
