Director of Business Development – Medical Device Manufacturing (USA)

I'm partnering with a leading global Medical Device Contract Manufacturer to recruit a Director of Business Development responsible for driving strategic revenue growth across North America. This is a high-impact commercial leadership role focused on winning new business with medical device OEMs while expanding relationships with existing customers across a diverse portfolio of manufacturing technologies and end-to-end solutions.

Working closely with executive leadership, engineering, operations, and program management teams, you will develop and execute strategic sales plans, identify new market opportunities, and lead complex commercial engagements from initial qualification through contract award. This position offers the opportunity to influence long-term business strategy while partnering with some of the world's leading medical device companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to achieve revenue and growth targets across North America
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with med device OEMs and emerging companies
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive, commercial, engineering, procurement, and R&D stakeholders
  • Lead the full sales cycle, including prospecting, customer engagement, proposal development, commercial negotiations, and contract closure
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and program management teams to develop customer solutions and support successful programme launches
  • Develop account strategies to expand existing customer relationships and increase wallet share
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies within the medical device manufacturing sector
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and business development updates for senior leadership
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings across North America
Background Sought
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Proven track record in Business Development, Strategic Sales, or Commercial Leadership within the Medical Device Contract Manufacturing (CDMO/CMO) industry
  • Experience selling complex manufacturing solutions including plastics, metals, precision machining, catheter manufacturing, minimally invasive devices, or finished device assembly
  • Demonstrated success developing relationships with medical device OEMs and delivering consistent revenue growth
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience leading negotiations for complex manufacturing programmes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout North America as required
